PHSE
Curriculum intent:
The intent is to provide a reactive, comprehensive, inclusive, and age-appropriate programme that equips our students with essential knowledge and skills to make informed choices regarding relationships, health, and well-being. We aim to foster a culture of open discussion, critical thinking, and mutual respect around sensitive topics related to relationships, sexual health, and consent.
KS4 Implementation Our PHSE lessons are planned and delivered by trained teachers who create a safe and supportive environment for students to explore and discuss PHSE topics openly. We utilise a variety of teaching methods, resources, and online material to enhance engagement and learning outcomes, always personalising our curriculum for the cohort we are teaching. External speakers are often brought in to explore topics with our students. For example NHS visits covering sexual health or charities supporting awareness on road safety or diversity.
KS4 Impact: Students gain an excellent knowledge and understanding of topics studied, as well as developing essential life skills, such as communication, decision-making, and critical thinking. These support students’ personal development, well-being and growth in independence and confidence to be able to express their views. The inclusive nature of our PHSE programme promotes diversity, equality, and respect for all, fostering a safe and inclusive school community where students feel valued, supported, and empowered to make informed choices.
