GCSE Citizenship
Curriculum intent:
To Develop knowledge, skills and understanding that pupils need to play a full part in a democratic society, as active and informed citizens. Challenging stereotypes and preconceived prejudices gives students information to play a positive and educated role in society. Pupils are taught about democracy, politics, parliament and voting. Pupils will learn to have and develop opinions of their own about the world in which they live and the current affairs that affect them and their communities. Additionally they learn about human rights, justice, the law, identities and diversity
KS4 Implementation:
At RVC we implement our curriculum through a range of teaching approaches including role play, games/ quizzes and creative tasks as well as more traditional information sharing with questions and essay writing. Discussion and debate are a regular feature of lessons, as well as regular assessment for learning to ensure key content is secure.
KS4 Impact:
Students will leave with a greater confidence and attitude to participate in Society in a positive way. Students will make well informed opinions about the world we live in. Stereotypes will be challenged and students will question their preconceived prejudices.
