Btec Level 1 Introductory Science
Curriculum Intent:
BTEC Applied Science at RVC aims to develop both transferable and sector skills. This is important as it helps progression to further study – whether that be to other BTECs, to apprenticeships or to training. The curriculum is designed in a way that means there is flexibility so that units can be selected to meet the needs of the learners. All of the units offer different aspects of Science therefore ensuring a broad and balanced curriculum. We intend for every learner to have the opportunity to develop key transferable skills through both core and sector units. This will help learners to appreciate how the transferable skills they develop in their core units can be contextualised in the sector they are studying. On completion of their course, learners will have developed a set of transferable and sector skills that will benefit them whatever their chosen progression route.
