Curriculum intent:
At Reigate Valley College, our aim is to support students to initially engage in the subject. Due to previous trauma from mainstream experiences). Delivering a diverse, captivating and flexible English curriculum which is tailored to the needs of our students. To support students in developing a positive mindset towards the different aspects of the subject and to recognise where they excel.
KS4 Implementation
We are flexible in our curriculum content and offer, using adaptive teaching and learning, in response to the individual learning needs. We use regular CAT tests and reading age assessments to identify gaps that need addressing. We have a consistent assessment and feedback cycle and regularly practice of tier 2 and subject specific vocab. |
Impact
Students leave RVC with a positive mindset towards English. They have developed resilience, confidence and the ability to take calculated risk. Students have a wider knowledge base. Students leave with a qualification specific to their personalised learning plan. (AQA Entry level, Functional Skills/ GCSE)
